So here is Karl Lagerfeld's short movie dedicated to Chanel's first store opening in the French seaside city of Deuville on 1912. Keira Knightley has been the chosen one to represent Gabrielle Chanel, along the side of Clothilde Hesme, her aunt.
The short movie other than being a success should become a reference point for today's entrepreneurs - Chanel is a wonderful example to follow when it comes to starting a new business. At first it is always scary and uncertainty takes over but like Vita Sackeville-West asks at the end of the short movie, I wonder what it will be in a 100 years from now, you never know what will happen, so it's good not to give up and carry your ideas forward. Look at where Chanel stands more than 100 years later!
As a matter of fact, at the beginning of the short movie we see two French ladies making fun of the store and commenting how outrageous and untasteful the hats are. Nonetheless, they end up looking silly themselves when the store becomes a great success and Chanel sells her hats to not just to anyone, but to all the high class international ladies from the time, thus becoming a trend setter as well.
Now a days life isn't easy for everyone and many people find themselves needing or wanting to start a new business, so why not have successful entrepreneur such as Chanel as an example when it comes to trying to make a difference?
